David M. Witt

WORCESTER – David M. Witt, 73, of Worcester, died Sunday, December 4, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. 

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Barbara H. (Landry) Witt; two sons, Michael Witt and his wife Sarah of Worcester and Mark Witt and his wife Sheila of Paxton; a daughter, Michelle A Witt of Denver, Colorado; a sister, Katherine Adams of Worcester; two beloved grandsons, David J. and John M. Witt of Paxton; and several nieces and nephews.  He was born in Worcester, son of Everett M. and Catherine (Guglielmelo) Witt and lived in Worcester for most of his life.

David attended Shrewsbury High School, Brom’s Academy and Worcester State College.  He taught cosmetology at Brom’s Academy for many years and owned hair salons in the city for over 20 years.  As a teenager, he made several records and had a #1 hit in Worcester.  Music was always his true passion and he loved entertaining people.  He was a well-known singer for many of the top bands in the area for years and performed tirelessly for charitable causes from his teenage years throughout his lifetime.  In his later years, he owned Witt Tunes DJ Services and continued to provide music for weddings and other functions. Through music, David brought joy and happiness to those around him during the most important events in their lives.

Over the years, what Dave enjoyed most was spending time with his family. He loved going to the beach during the summer when his children were growing up.  Family vacations at Hampton Beach were some of his most cherished memories.  His grandchildren were a particular source of joy.

A memorial celebration of his life will be held on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Hadwen Park Congregational Church, UCC, 6 Clover Street, Worcester MA 01603.  There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hadwen Park Congregational Church, UCC.  Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester is in care of arrangements.
