WORCESTER – Bertha M. (Askervitch) Dillon, 103, of Worcester, died Saturday, September 17, 2016, at home surrounded by her family.
Her husband of 37 years, John Dillon, died in 1974. She leaves a sister, Nell Forsberg of Worcester; several nephews and nieces, including Peter Askervitch and his significant other Debbie of Charlton, Ann St. Germaine and her husband Edward of Worcester, Dorothy Forsberg and her significant other Obdulio Rodriguez of Worcester, Judy Santella and her husband Steve of Oxford; a grandson Sean and granddaughter Robin. She is predeceased by her son Michael Dillon and his wife Kathy Dillon, a sister Ann Askervitch, her brothers William, Joseph and Peter Askervitch, and a brother-in-law, Chester Forsberg. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Michael and Agatha (Pozuta) Askervitch.
Bertha was able to live in her own home with family assistance until her death at age 103. She was a strong, fiercely independent woman until the end.
A graveside service was held at St. John’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Cambridge St, Worcester. Arrangements are under the care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Peter’s Church, 929 Main St, Worcester, MA 01610.
