CARIBOU, ME - Mary Elizabeth (Carnazza) Mowatt of Caribou, formerly of Worcester, MA, a loving mother, daughter, sister, wife and friend was called to God on Tuesday, May 15th, 2012.

Mary leaves behind her cherished family; her 2 adoring sons Eric and Ian Mowatt, both of Caribou, and her husband Wayne Mowatt, also of Caribou. Mary also leaves her mother, Anne Marie (Carnazza) Lynch and her husband Bill of Spencer, MA, 4 brothers; Joseph Carnazza and his wife Paula of Montclair, NJ, Stephen Carnazza and his wife Susan of Marion, MA, John Carnazza and his wife Steffanie of Spencer, MA, James Carnazza and his wife Cory of Holden, MA, an uncle and many nieces and nephews. Mary is predeceased by her father Paul J. Carnazza, 2 sisters, Susan and Anne Marie, and a brother Paul Carnazza. She grew up in Worcester and was educated in the Catholic schools. She was a graduate of Marion High School, Worcester.

Mary attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, graduating with a Bachelors degree in Special Education. She was an Exchange Student at Mcgill University School for the deaf. She earned her Masters in Education at the University of Maine, Portland. Mary also attended the Monitored Doctorate Program, Vanderbuilt University. She was Director of Special Education, Limestone ME, also Managing Director of the Helen P. Knight School for Multiple Handicapped, Assistant Superintendent and Director of Easton School District, Easton, ME. Most recently she was an Independent Consultant for Psychological Evaluation to several surrounding school districts in Aroostook County. She was highly recognized for her tireless work with children with disabilities, especially her work early in her career teaching deaf children oral speech.

Mary's favorite times were spent in her homes in Camden, ME, strolling to the harbor and at Carabassett Valley, ME, both by the river and on Sugarloaf Mountain. Mary's kindness and generosity will be deeply missed. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass celebrating Mary's life on Thursday, June 7th at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St., Worcester, MA. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
