Marjorie A. Mathieson

WORCESTER - Marjorie A. (Leary) Mathieson, 84, formerly of 96 Sussex Lane, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Her husband, John T. Mathieson, died in 1992. She leaves three children, Ann C. MacGillivray and her husband Peter of Sutton, J. Todd Mathieson and his wife Maureen of Hudson, and Paul W. Mathieson of Worcester,two grandchildren, Catherine and Elizabeth MacGillivray of Sutton; many nephews and nieces. Two brothers, George and Paul Leary, and two sisters, Ethel Leary and Catherine Martin, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of William J. and Agnes J. (O’Connor) Leary. She graduated from Ascension High School and Emmanuel College.

Mrs. Mathieson was a social worker for the City of Worcester, the state welfare department and at the Nazareth Home for Boys. She loved to bake, read, knit, and especially loved her family. Her life revolved around her extended family.

The funeral will be held Saturday, April 21 from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, with a Mass at 10:00 am at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, April 20, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity, 300 Barber Ave, Worcester, MA 01606 or the charity of one’s choice.
